Battle Hill Farm

Farm name:Battle Hill Farm
Owned by:Dr. Lynn Smith & Dr. Dorris Ragsdale
Website:www.battlehillfarm.com

In a picturesque and fertile valley of West Virginia lies a wellspring of champion purebred Arabian horses. Battle Hill Farm boasts the production of 10 national champion horses that have won 18 national championships in both the United States and abroad. The dream started small, as most dreams do ...

Dr. Lynn Smith and Dr. Dorris Ragsdale met while training in the practice of internal medicine and were married in 1982. Both were natives of Virginia and wished to settle in a small town close to the mountains. After an exhaustive search of small communities from Pennsylvania to Georgia , they decided on the town of Lewisburg , West Virginia , the heart of the Greenbrier Valley . In 1985, Smith and Ragsdale purchased 40 acres and their first Arabian mare.

Battle Hill Farm, situated just two miles from the quaint, historic town of Lewisburg , draws its name from a civil war battle fought in its pastures more than a century ago. The farm commands spectacular views of the Greenbrier Valley and the surrounding Allegheny Mountains and is only 12 miles from the world famous Greenbrier Resort.
