The Selket Arabians USA/Brazil
USA/Brazil -- Classy Arabian Sport Horses for Racing and the Show Ring.
Since the mid-1900s, The Selket Arabians USA/Brazil have been cultivated for their size, substance and power. Being taller than average (many of them reaching 16 Hands in height), they are impressive in the show ring and in many different sports. They are a bloodline, not just a name, and their success is international.
Founded by the late James Andreson, the herd is based on his famous European stallion Furno Khamal, who stood 16.2 Hands tall barefoot. The herd includes horses of Mr. Andreson’s friend, Marion Hodgson, who protected the kind of Russian-blooded stock that Andreson admired from such legendary farms as Karho, Zodiac, Ventura and designer Paolo Gucci.
The bloodline carries the endorsement of internationally recognized and respected Arabian horse authority Adelia Audi (breeder of Khadraj NA) who traveled the world buying the finest Arabians ever assembled in one herd. Adelia Audi’s credentials in the industry are undisputed and the list of stallions she has owned reads like a Who’s Who of the Arabian horse breed. Over the years, her legendary stallions (winners of the world’s highest honors) have included El Shaklan, Ponomarev, Khadraj NA, Aza Destiny, Padron’s Image, Manzo, Abdulahhh, Hal Gibby, Monarch, Limazar, and Bhaskar NA.
Famed horses of today tracing to the Selket bloodline include winners such as:
FA El Shawan – (bred by Marlene Reider) The undefeated Brazilian national champion campaigned to flawless success as perhaps Marwan Al Shaqab’s most successful son.
Matisse FM – (bred by international judge Cathy Murphy Wright) Another Brazilian National Champion, and out of the mare Selket Promise Kept.
Selket Marque – (owned by David Cains and Scott Bailey). The impressive breeding stallion out of one of our best mares (Selket Khamala) and with foals all over the world.
Selket Mystery – one of the first Top Ten National Sport Horse champions (Hunter/Jumper).
Selket Exkwizitt +/ – one of the most successful Arabian Dressage horses in the United States.
Selket Maxx Factor – A National Champion Sport Horse (Half-Arab).
Selket Louchiano – The 16 Hand “movie star horse” featured in the popular story “Fate of the Stallion” televised on international TV. Louchiano is a grandson of Furno Khamal and he was a national competitor in the Halter show ring. He is a supreme Sport Horse champion.
Today, The Selket Arabians are raised on farms in Michigan, Pennsylvania and South Carolina by a partnership of dedicated breeders. When raised and trained correctly, The Selket Arabians are competitive in both the show ring and on the racetrack. It has taken many years to develop the bloodline and we look forward to their success (and yours) for many years to come.
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: We are currently forming a small group of backers for several young racing prospects. The horses are ready to be placed with a national winning Sport Horse trainer, and will be finished by a Thoroughbred trainer who has trained and conditioned horses for the Kentucky Derby. All costs and income will be divided among the members. Please contact us for further information. We expect these horses to be able to compete in Arabian races internationally.
