A show with approximately 600 Arabian Horses belonging to 350 exhibitors competing in halter, cross country, performance, endurance, jump, barrels, team penning and showing an Auction that brought around US$ 1 million dollars, all being aired by a cable TV to all of Brazil.
Well known for their endurance and spirit, Arabians are found playing polo at various levels of the sport all over the world. Much like the Arabian breed, the sport of polo represents a long history that has found a continued interest today and beyond.
At first, the World of Arabian Horse Breeding was invited into the green oasis of Cairo: El Zahraa Stud, steeped in tradition. Not just one but two shows engrossed the spectators from all over the world, as there were the National Championships and the International Championships of Egypt.
Sitting on the veranda, facing west, I am gazing into a blazing sunset. It's an unbelievable sight. The darkening silhouette of the land rises up to meet the gold, purple, and magenta clouds. Heaven and earth embrace. It is a lovely end to another day - but what about tomorrow...
