A Heroes Salute Memorial Day began as a day to honor Americans who died while fighting for their country after the Civil War in 1868. It is often confused with Veterans Day which is a day to observe and honor those who serve in the U.S. military. Though many of us enjoy Memorial Day as an unofficial start to summer and great savings at the mall, it is important to remember that it is much more than that. Memorial Day is a day meant for us all to honor and remember those who have lost their lives fighting for peace and freedom. The Arabian Horse Network joins you in honoring the fallen freedom fighters worldwide this Memorial Day weekend. Photo of The Nellis Air Force Honor
A Life Changed by the Love of an Arabian Horse by Frank Hennessey A few years ago I invited a friend and his wife to visit the farm with their daughter Belle on her birthday weekend. Belle is autistic. A predictable daily routine is very important to her. Her environment is tightly controlled at home in order to avoid surprises that may upset her. However, understanding how relaxed and comfortable we try to make our home for our guests, her parents, who wanted to share a special birthday with Belle, felt she could handle it. A Special Vegas Moment ~ Text and photos by Lisa Abraham The Arabian horse world is dynamic. Change can occur at lightning speed with eruptions of trends—some of which will fade as quickly as they began, while others will influence generations. Many of these trends begin in the show ring, on the scorecards of our Judges. Because of this, every show is important and each provides memorable experiences. If we are really lucky, it is with our own horse in the ring. But at world class shows such as the Arabian Breeders World Cup (in Las Vegas) the opportunities for lasting memories are endless. As both horses and people travel from all over the world to participate, whether it be as a competitor and/or a spectator,
Don was a very unique and colorful man; one who had a profound influence on many people from all over the world as well as in a variety of professions and walks of life. He was a very talented and gifted individual who utilized all those attributes and because of these gifts his legacy is paid forward in so many ways.

I had the opportunity to speak to Arabian Breeders World Cup judge, Reinaldo de Rocha Leao of Brazil about his experience on the first day of the show. Reinaldo is a breeder since 1981 and a judge since 1989 and has judged more than 150 show throughout South America. The Arabian Breeders World Cup is his first opportunity to judge in the United States. Reinaldo was enthusiastic about his American show ring debut, “Wow! There is nothing like beginning at the top! What an honor to be invited to judge this show; for sure it’s one of the most prestigious competitions in the world. I was so happy to get the invitation because I watched all the other years on the live stream and I have spoken to all the other Brazilians
