While in search of mares for our breeding program, we experienced one of those life changing moments. During a visit to O’K Arabian Farms, owned by Paula and Michael O’Keefe of O'K Arabian Farms, a friend and mentor, we came across a yearling colt, that although we were not actively searching for a stallion, we knew we could not live without. His name is Sasakis Samurai.
Sired by the renowned *Sasaki, the maternal grandsire of Magnum Psyche, we felt Sasakis Samurai was a living replica of his sire. Sasaki, a phenomenal stallion, he is known for his exceptional beauty, coupled with Spanish substance and athleticism.
Sasakis Samurai’s dam is the elegant Jaleas ET, who was sired by *Barich de Washoe, one of the most beloved and influential Spanish Arabian stallions throughout U.S. history. Jaleas ET is out of a Zancudo daughter and she has produced progeny that have become outstanding producers, both sires and dams. Two of Jaleas ET’s most notable daughters are Camaya, with multiple wins in Europe including National Champion Mare of Spain, and Avellana, a full sister in blood to Sasakis Samurai. Avellana’s outstanding accomplishments include Reserve Regional Champion Mare and a Top Ten Win at Scottsdale. This remarkable mare Avellana, produced the unbelievable Marakita. Earning numerous regional wins, Marakita additionally was Regional 8 Champion Yearling Filly, U.S. National Top Ten Yearling Filly, Top Ten at Scottsdale, and continued on to the prestigious Salon de Cheval in France, where she placed in the Top Ten, fourth overall in the judges’ cards. In addition to Sasaki’s pedigree, these precious, Champion bloodlines that run through Sasakis Samurai’s veins, we feel will make his potential as a sire unlimited.
Sasakis Samurai epitomizes what we feel a true Arabian should be, one that exudes type, correct conformation, balance, a gentle disposition, and those large, liquid, Spanish eyes. It is said that when you look into a horse’s eyes, you can see his soul. When you gaze into Samurai’s eyes, you can see all of the strength and confidence that one searches for in a breeding stallion, along with the softness and kindness of a gentle, trusting friend.
Along with Sasakis Samurai’s wonderful attributes, he additionally provides an outstanding, proven pedigree of old Spanish bloodlines. His initial offspring is confirming the promise of our hopes for his future as a breeding stallion.
