After the busy show season of summer, the excitement in Aachen was elevated as this was the first leg of the European Triple Crown. Once again, all activities took place in the Albert-Vahle-Halle, located in the heart of the charming German city of Aachen. The agenda in Aachen is

A Conversation Between Friends: Dr. Hans J. Nagel and Judith Forbis
Fall was in the air as the colors of the season were beginning to appear and the heat of the summer was replaced with a cool, comfortable breeze. It was a perfect day on September 21, 2016 when Judith Forbis and I visited Dr. Hans Nagel at his Katharinenhof Stud in Northern Germany. Our visit took place just days before the All Nations Cup was to be held in Aachen where Judith, long known for her Ansata Arabian Stud and various educational activities, was to be recognized as the first person to receive the All Nations Cup Lifetime Achievement Award. After spending time walking around the stables and looking at all of Dr. Nagel’s horses, including the latest foal crop, we relaxed in the sitting room at the farm’s charming cottage. Although I have enjoyed personal friendships with both Dr. Nagel and Judith, it was an honor to experience them together in this lovely and informal setting as they shared precious memories of their influential past.

Although the spirit was heightened in the International competition, which took place from March 10th-12 th , all the Qatar shows are a healthy combination of important competition and a reunion of respected and often lifelong friendships and mentorships. Despite the actual winners, the energy was infectious as everyone seemed happy for one another. Naturally, the International show draws competitors and enthusiasts

When Little Liza Fame & Shahteyna Were Reunited
They were best friends for over two decades, inseparable, and sharing pastures together through their mothering years. Two greats in their own right, whose contributions are incalculable. On April 21, 2016, Little Liza Fame left this world right before her 28th birthday. Just three days later, Shahteyna joined her at 34 years old. And though it is difficult to lose them, there is joyous comfort in seeing these two share their lives together, only to be reunited in a different place in short order. Thank you to Michael Byatt and his staff for taking care of these two grand dames to the very end, with love and dignity. In Michael's words: "Its difficult to announce to the world the loss of another beloved treasure
When the Orphan Set the Track Record
His story is worthy of being a Hollywood blockbuster: a hand-reared orphan foal, a champion racehorse and sire, owned by two billionaires and a desert prince, and twice sold with a complete herd of mares. Having won 19 of his 23 races, he was leading sire in USA no less than three times. Of course, we're talking about Monarch AH. The race below was the first start of his final year of racing. His jockey never even moves through the entire race, where Monarch leaves the rest of the field to win by over 10 lengths. It is chilling to watch. # MonarchAH # GreatMoments Great Moments is a feel-good service of EvieInc Equine Social Media. www.EvieInc.net
