Scottsdale Show News - Thursday February 12, 2015

Welcome to the 2015 Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show News and Reviews for Thursday, February 12th; this is the first day of the biggest – and in many opinions – the best Arabian horse show in the world! The sponsor for today’s news is Michael Byatt Arabians.

This is the 60th Anniversary for the Scottsdale show and Michael Byatt has been a leading figure at this event for more that 30 years. Throughout his career, Michael has established himself not only as a world-class trainer and handler, but also as a breeder of international champions and a devoted horseman.

Each year Michael Byatt Arabians presents many of the top horses at the Scottsdale show. We have learned to expect the best from Michael and this year is no exception. Once again, the breeders and owners represented by Michael Byatt Arabians have sent some of their very best horses from around the world. The excitement and interest generated by the preview images of Michael’s show string pretty much guarantees that everyone will be watching with great anticipation to see him lead his extraordinary horses into the Scottsdale spotlight.

One of the most interesting aspects of the Scottsdale show is to study the pedigrees and bloodlines of the horses competing in the breeding classes. These horses embody the history, as well as the future, of the breed. Over the past decade and beyond, two stallions in particular have exerted significant influence on breeding classes at American and international shows. Many of the horses to be shown by Michael Byatt, as well as horses to be presented by other trainers, have Marwan and Gazal in their pedigree and are directly related to the vision of MBA and Michael's instinct for selecting "THE" cutting edge stallions.

As busy as the show schedule is, Michael Byatt will be hosting presentations of show and breeding horses throughout the week, including an exciting collection of straight Egyptian Arabians available for sale. If you would like a private showing, you are invited to stop by the stalls and make an appointment.

Throughout the ten days of the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, we will be posting news, events, announcements, interviews, images and more from all around the show. We will be sharing fun photos by official photographers Howie Schatzberg and Rick Osteen. Be sure to stop by their booth in the main retail area adjacent to the Equidome to view proofs from the classes. This year there are over 300 boutique vendors offering something for everyone, from one of a kind fashion and delicious food to fine art and unique décor.

The show begins today at 8:00 am in the enclosed and spacious Equidome with youth performance classes. Classes begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Wendell Arena featuring adult and open performance classes in a variety of disciplines. The Wells Fargo Reining Arena classes begin bright and early at 7:30 a.m. with youth reining and western horsemanship. For those of you who enjoy watching the dressage classes head over to the Markell Insurance Arena; classes begin at 8:00 a.m. The afternoon session begin at 12:30 in the Equidome with a full schedule of youth performance classes.
