Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show News for Sunday, February 21, 2016

Today’s Official Scottsdale Daily News is sponsored by Deor Farms, Aude Espourteille and Tara Boresek, and Rohara Arabians, Roxann and Karl Hart. Deor Farms and Rohara Arabians are taking this opportunity to announce that the stallion A Jakarta (Jullyen El Jamaal x Gai Schara, by Bey Shah), owned by Deor Farms, will be moving from Butte Falls, Oregon to the lush landscapes of Rohara Arabians in central Florida. The inspiration of moving A Jakarta to Rohara Arabians and standing him in Florida is the possibility of bringing him to a new group of breeders and allowing them to experience this incredible stallion.

A Jakarta's offspring are sought after by breeders around the globe and he has offspring in the Middle East as well as Europe. A Jakarta is the sire of A Jericho, a young stallion that is showing exceptional breeding promise. A Jericho has produced some amazing offspring from his first foal crop.

The combined efforts of Deor Farm and Rohara Arabians – two powerful and influential breeders will be monumental. For more information, please visit the Deor Farm website at: www.deorfarmsarabians.com You can also visit Rohara Arabians website at: www.rohara.com Watch for more details coming soon.

I cannot believe it is the last day of the show. What an incredible 11 days it has been. All classes today are final championships and begin at 9:00 am. Special events today include Camel rides, which begin at 10:00 a.m., Liberty Wildlife Live Animal Display & Education from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the North Hall, and the Art Contest Awards Presentations for the Phoenix Area Schools take place in the Equidome at noon.

There will be time between classes and special events to visit the commercial exhibitors. There are some vendors who we look forward to seeing each year, as well as some new vendors with incredible merchandise, many are one of a kind items and worth a visit to see. I encourage everyone to visit the vendors on the last day to select your Scottsdale souvenir.

As a side note, the Scottsdale Vendors are very hard working entrepreneurs. One of the most popular and longstanding vendors is Show Season. It's always a popular spot for English, western, hunt and other custom tailored riding apparel. Melissa Holmes is an integral member of the Show Season team, helping riders select just the right fabric and combine all the design elements with style and flair. Melissa's family is well known and they are highly respected members of the Arabian horse community. Melissa's husband, Terry Holmes, is an award winning international trainer and judge. This past week he had an accident with a young horse and sustained very serious injuries and was hospitalized. The Arabian Horseman's Distress Fund is hosting an online auction with fantastic items to raise funds to assist Terry and Melissa with the medical expenses incurred. You can find out more or place a bid on some great items – everything from training packages to golf and sports tickets to an Italian Bed and Breakfast accommodation.
